Competition of design projects at WorldBuild Moscow/MosBuild Design LAB-2018
A unique large-scale business programme has been organised for the first time as part of the exhibition WorldBuild Moscow/MosBuild. The goal is to establish a platform to enable designers, decorators, architects, planners and manufacturers to interact and cooperate.
We would like to present you with the first event from the updated business programme: the international building and finishing materials trade show WorldBuild Moscow/MosBuild, the International Design School IDS and the magazine ELLE Decoration have announced a competition of design projects to design the space for the events of the business programme – WorldBuild Moscow/MosBuild Design LAB.
We are delighted to invite you to participate in the competition of designers, architects and students from specialist educational institutions. Competition participants will be able to select from one of four sections in the exhibition: Building Materials, Bathroom, Doors & Locks and Finishing Materials, and propose their own creative design project on the design of a theme-based space for holding speeches, presentations and master classes as part of the section. A Design LAB will be located in the centre of the pavilion. The area set aside for the structure will equal 500 m2.
The best design project will be implemented at WorldBuild Moscow/MosBuild in April 2019. The competition winner will have an opportunity to personally oversee implementation of the project during the trade show, and also design a reading stand within the boundaries of other sections in one single stylistic solution. The winner of the design project will be published on the official websites of the exhibition and the International Design School IDS. An interview with the winner and information on the project will also be posted on the website of the general media partner of the competition Elle Decoration.
Works for the competition will be accepted from 1 December 2017 to 15 March 2018. The results of the competition will be summarised by a professional international jury and announced in Moscow in Expo Centre on Krasnaya Presnya in April 2018 at the MosBuild trade show. You can find out more about the mandatory terms and conditions and requirements on the projects, partners, performance deadlines and forms of participation on the official website of the design project laboratory WorldBuild Moscow/MosBuild Design LAB.
The WorldBuild365 portal asked one of the jury members of the competition, designer, teacher and author of interior design courses Mike Shilov, to describe his vision of the competition WorldBuild Moscow/MosBuild Design LAB:
"...major projects can definitely originate from competition works, something that might never have happened if you hadn’t participated in various competitions. Finally, if a designer takes parts in and all the more so wins the competition, he or she is able to assess his or her own competence as a professional..."
