Daikin launches tree-planting initiative
The Romanian branch of air conditioning manufacturer Daikin will be planting 13,000 trees – one for every air conditioning unit sold from 5 June – 15 September.
The ‘We plant air’ initiative is aimed at highlighting the importance of healthy air in any environment and to address the growing problem of deforestation in Romania. The country cuts down 3 hectares of forest every hour. The company estimated they would sell 10,000 units during the designated period, but exceeded the target by 3,000. The company will plant the trees in nine counties in Romania on 18 November.
“The idea of the campaign started from an internal initiative in autumn last year when we managed to mobilise several of our partners and donate the necessary amount for planting 1,400 saplings in an area affected by landslides in Teleorman County,” reported Danial Vasile, Managing Director Daikin Romania.
“We believe in the power of setting an example and that together we can do more to protect nature. So, we thought to involve Daikin customers in the story of a greener future, and for each split air-conditioning unit purchased this summer, we will plant a tree,” he added.Next Article :
