Saint-Laurent Sports Complex by Saucier + Perrotte architects and HCMA, Canada

Saucier + Perrotte architects and HCMA Architecture + Design’s new joint project is positioned between the Émile Legault school and the Raymond Bourque Arena in Montreal, Canada.

As both these existing buildings are fairly neutral in their shape and design, one of the project’s goals was to create a visually striking structure to link the Parc Marcel Laurin to the north with the Boulevard Thimens.

The building’s unusual shape and sculptural nature creates a strong connection between the park and boulevard. The sports complex consists of two angular objects – a white prism and a black rectangle, inviting people in from the boulevard to the park.
